News Work-to-rule kicked up a notch SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Thursday, Sep. 24th, 2015 The Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario says it’s moving to phase three of its work-to-rule job action. The ETFO says phase three includes not filling-in for absent teachers, not taking additional students if classes collapse and not taking on other duties during preparation time. These changes affect elementary schools in the District School Board Ontario North East. ONE Director of Education Linda Knight says with some strike actions a school could close for a day on short notice. The Board’s Chair Doug Shearer says there may be increased absenteeism among teachers in ONE elementary schools. There’s no sign the province is meeting with the ETFO in the immediate future. It has been without a deal for a year and in legal strike position since May. The ETFO says it may move to phase four of rotating strikes if a deal is not made.
