Only one small change is being made to the budget process next year after a discussion at city council. The only change agreed upon was having council members present anything they would like to see in terms of initiatives or projects up front. This is so city staff can build them into the budget, and they can move forward from there.
Black says council talked about having the department heads give their own presentations one at a time, and agreed that is the best option. That way each department can talk about their issues, challenges, and opportunities for the coming year.
The mayor also says the core services review is going to play a role in shaping the budget for 2016. He says once it gets rolled out, council will have to look at their recommendations and see which ones they are going to implement for next year. That review is expected sometime mid-October.
