A peaceful protest and march in support of women’s rights is tonight in Timmins. Take Back the Night is an annual event that raises awareness for safety and respect of women. The focus of the rally this year is on missing and murdered Aboriginal women. The rally starts at 6:30pm at the Timmins and Area Women in Crisis Centre on Wilson, and the march begins at 7:00pm.
The Timmins and Area Women in Crisis, H.E.R. Place, Centre Passerelle pour femmes, Villa RenouvEllement, Tranquility House, Timmins Native Friendship Centre and Cochrane/ Smooth Rock Victim Services are all teaming up to make the event happen in Timmins, Iroquois Falls, and Cochrane. The event is in Iroquois Falls on Wednesday and Cochrane on Thursday.
