Snowmobiler damaging Porcupine Ski Runners trails

The mild weather has already forced closure of the cross-country ski and snowshoe trails at Porcupine Ski Runners. It’s done enough damage on its own.  However, president Christine Dorion says for most of the past week, a snowmobile has been zipping back and forth. So the trails will freeze with a snowmobile imprint.

“Plus we don’t quite have a full base yet, the ground’s not quite frozen, so we don’t have much to work with to fix that,” Dorion tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

“Somebody tried to wave them down, they didn’t stop,” she says. “I’m hoping they didn’t see them, but it doesn’t appear like that so far. So I’m hoping that the word goes out and this person at least stops.”

If the identity of the snowmobiler helping wreck the trails is determined, charges will be laid.  The ski club has reported the activity to city police.
