Schumacher Lions to form Leo Club

The Schumacher Lions Club is trying to establish a Leo Club for boys and girls aged 12 to 19.

Lions Club secretary Wayne Snider says a Leo Club has its own board of directors that decides on the projects members want to work on with the Lions Club.

Lions act as advisors.

“When they get ideas, if they were to get too big, like ‘want to build a new arena’, well, that’s kind of outside the scope,  and we steer them in them in the right direction,” Snider explains, “but we get the idea of where they want to go.”

Any involvement counts as community service hours towards a high school diploma.

“This Saturday (Sept. 21),” Snider continues, “we’re going to have an information meeting at the Lions Den, and we’re inviting not just the young people, but we’d like their parents to come out so they can see what we’re all about as well.”

The meeting is at 1:00pm in the Lions Den, downstairs from the McIntyre Coffee Shop.

Our interview with Wayne Snider has a lot more information.  Audio of it is right here.
