Catherine Touchette has major issues with changes this week to Timmins Transit service to and from South Porcupine and Porcupine.
She lives in Schumacher, so it’s not the transit on demand feature. What has her upset is overcrowding on buses causing delays.
“I had just started a new job at the college which unfortunately I also had to resign from, because of this,” she tells My Timmins Now Dot Com. “I didn’t want to feel like I’d have call in late for work every day, and just worry about whether I can physically get on the bus or not.”
Touchette’s job at Northern isn’t one for which you can be late or adjust your start time. She felt compelled to quit after two days.
“I hate to say and I don’t want to sound negative, but I really don’t think it’s going to get any better. And especially starting a job for the first time, I don’t think it’s a good impression to have to constantly be late to work.”
Touchette is a member of the Fight for Timmins Transit Facebook group.
