The Hollinger Open Pit Lookout was the setting for the proclamation of Mining Week in Timmins. It also highlighted next week’s 31st annual Canadian Mining Expo in and around the McIntyre Community Building.
Presenting the proclamation, Mayor Michelle Boileau paid tribute to the wide range of mining stakeholders gathered at the lookout, for both the past and the future of Timmins.
“There’s a lot of innovation happening in the area, and you’re all playing a vital role in that, in ensuring the future and the sustainability of the city of Timmins,” she said.
Boileau also recognized the role of Canadian Trade Ex for organizing the mining expo. She said a lot of people know about Timmins because of the show.
“I really do appreciate the work and the efforts that you put into it, and that everyone puts into it,” said Boileau, “because it’s no small feat, bringing all your equipment and putting up your booths and spending a few days.”
Four-hundred exhibitors, several presentations and a job fair are part of the Mining Expo, which runs next Wednesday and Thursday.
