Councillor Jon Curley is asking council to consider a police investigation into gas prices.
He says when he was down south, where prices fluctuate frequently, he asked the station owner who said he set the price himself. However, Curley doesn’t know who sets them here because in Timmins the prices are the same across the board whether a brand name or no name station. When the price of gas does finally change it only ever goes up.
Curley wants to find out if prices are being fixed. He’s suggesting an investigation as a different approach because the city has always gone straight to the government int he past. This time he wants answers.
He is calling on all gas station owners or distributors to come forward about the stagnant prices. He says if they are uncomfortable talking in public then he can meet privately with anyone willing to talk.
