Timmins Food Bank issues top ten list in effort to restock empty shelves

The shelves are pretty bare lately, and the Timmins Food Bank has issued a top ten list of the things most needed.

President Rick Young says there are certain items the food bank’s running out of currently.

“Cereal, canned pasta, pasta sauce, jam and peanut butter are the main things that we’re running out of right now.”

That can be partly attributed to more people needing help.

“Just in the last two months,” says Young, “it has to be 40 or 50 new ones signing up. Probably 65 or 70% are single people.”

“It’s actually getting a little bit out of hand right now,” remarks the always optimistic Young,” but hopefully it’s going to level off in the next couple of months.”

You can drop off donations Wednesday mornings at the food bank in the old Daily Press building, or a bin in a grocery store. If you want to donate money, contact Rick Young at 705-268-5704 to make arrangements.
