This is not a typo: Dive-in movie offered in Timmins this Saturday night

You’ve heard of a drive-in movie.  This Saturday night, youth between ten and 17 can see a dive-in movie at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex swimming pool. Featured is “How to Train Your Dragon”.

Aquatics supervisor Amanda Nadeau says the idea originated with a similar event at Toronto Harbour.

“So we decided to give it a try for our staff Christmas party,” she adds, “and the staff absolutely loved it, asked for more, so when we were presented with an opportunity with some funding to do a fun activity for the community, we decided to give it a try and see how the public likes it.”

There’s no charge. Snacks will be available, although food will not be allowed on the deck.

“The movie’s going to be projected on the wall by the hot pool,” says Nadeau. “So you’re going to be able to see it very clearly from the main pool as well.”

Nadeau says some seniors have expressed interest in a similar event for themselves… and an adult group wants to see “Jaws” that way.
