Frozen water lines a ‘crisis’ in Timmins

The city is facing a serious problem of frozen water lines this year.

Public works manager Steven Kukulka says the issue is because of the severe cold temperatures. He says this happens every winter but this is by far the worst he has seen in years.

Mayor Tom Laughren advised in the Committee of the Whole meeting last night for residents to keep their taps running every so often.

Kukulka says the stream should be about the width of a pencil. If the water turns yellowish-brown then he suggests calling the public works department.
