Hockey tourney in Iroquois Falls raises money for mental health

The third annual Scotty and Devo Charity Hockey Tournament is starting to take shape for March at the Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls. Organizer Adam Boucher says the ice time is booked from money collected from the last tournament.

“About 10 teams, and four games guaranteed,” he said. “You could end up playing eight games if you make the playoffs depending on where you fall. We’re looking for volunteers right now but we have all of our money so we don’t have to worry about that end of things.”

Players register individually and then Boucher spreads them out to form different teams. He says that way no one team is too strong.

He adds the comments he receives about it too make all the difference.

“I’ve seen lots of people sign up this year so it’s nice to see people excited for it again. I’ve received a lot of comments last year saying how they had such a great time and looking forward to this year and all of that stuff.”

If you would like to register to play or help out as a volunteer call Adam Boucher at 705-232-3020.
