New boss at Downtown Timmins

Downtown Timmins BIA’s board of management has chosen Cory Robin as its new executive director. The lifelong Timmins resident is serving as city councillor for Ward 5. A release from the organization says Cory, having a broad business background, understands what businesses require during the constantly evolving post-COVID world. It goes on to say his political experience and ability to take action to address problems makes him the ideal candidate to represent the needs of the BIA membership.

Since January, Robin has been president of the Downtown Timmins board, but was not involved in the decision to switch roles, or in the discussions leading to it, vice-president Sherry McNeil-Tremblay states. “As vice president of the BIA board of management, I led a robust discussion about the future of the BIA, our challenges, our options, and where our opportunities lay. With Mr. Robin absent from these discussions, we, as a board, believe Mr. Robin is more than capable to lead the organization and support our members,” she adds.

Robin is a graduate of the business program at Northern College and has been involved in growing businesses in northern Ontario, as the general manager of Attawapiskat Enterprises, and as the director of Northern Ontario Angels, a group of investors for new or growing businesses. He replaces outgoing executive director Jessica Mayer.

Robin is expected to share his priorities for the Downtown Timmins BIA in the New Year.
