Two ‘strong advocates’ recognized by FONOM

he Federation of Northern Ontario Municipalities (FONOM) is thanking two retiring police chiefs in the region for their ‘exemplary dedication’ and efforts to improve society.

Both Timmins Police Chief Daniel Foy and Chief Scott Tod of the North Bay Police Service recently announced their retirements.

Earlier this year, FONOM partnered with the four northeastern police chiefs and created a bail reform and property crime taskforce.

“Daniel and Scott were not only strong leaders in their communities,” says Danny Whalen, FONOM President. “They were instrumental in Northern Ontario having a voice on necessary changes to Bill 75.”

Amendments to the criminal code were introduced by the federal government earlier this year.

FONOM says both chiefs have been strong advocates for the challenges northern cities and communities are experiencing.
