Trillium Foundation gives money to Porcupine Ski Runners

The Porcupine Ski Runners (Runners) are getting a new trail groomer.
It’s on its way thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
MPP George Pirie announced the funding today.
“[We’re] thrilled to be awarded a grant of $150,000 from OTF,” says Gerry McNair, Chair of Operations for the Runners. He adds it will replace the 37-year-old groomer they operate with. “Well-groomed trails are essential for a cross-country ski club and a new groomer will provide us with the means to continue providing an excellent winter
recreational facility for Timmins.”
The Runners were among 5 non-profit organizations getting funding in the North East, with money also going towards the Kapuskasing Golden Age Centre ($44,800), The Municipality of Mattice ($150,000), Les 50+ de Kirkland Lake ($32,000) and Le Centre culturel ARTEM New Liskeard ($44,000).
Pirie says organizations like these enrich the lives of people, and he’s proud his government is supporting organizations that make a positive difference in their communities.
