Improvements are on the way to the Polar Bear Express by next Spring. Chairman of the Ontario Northland Transportation Commission Al Spacek announced that WIFI will be added to the train from Cochrane to Moosonee.
He adds the equipment has already arrived and will take time to test and install it.
“Passengers using that service have a five hour train ride each way from Cochrane to Moosonee and now they’ll be able to enjoy that once the equipment is installed access to WIFI. Very important for today form an entertainment value and public safety.”
Spacek says it will also be helpful with point of sale transactions including the dining car.
The WIFI service is also expected to be added to the new Northlander passenger rail service when it begins in a few years.
