Smile Cookie Campaign to benefit Lions’ Stan Fowler Fund

The Schumacher Lions will be the recipient of this year’s Smile Cookie Campaign.
For over 25 years, Tim Hortons customers have raised money for local charities by purchasing smile cookies at participating restaurants.
This year, the campaign runs Nov. 13 to 19.
Officials say proceeds will go to the Lions’ Stan Fowler Fund, which is used to purchase and distribute food vouchers to families in need before Christmas.
“We’re expecting a lot of people who are going to need our help,” says fund chairman John McCauley. “So, the more support, the better.”
Last year, the club says over 400 vouchers were distributed.
Officials say this year the amount of each voucher will be $150, up from last year’s $125. Vouchers can be used at any grocery store in Timmins, except Walmart.
The Club will be accepting pre-orders and delivering Holiday Smile Cookies.
“Get a hold of one of the Lions members or myself, John McCauley at 705-266-3545, and I will make arrangements to get you an order form,” he said. “You pick a day of those seven days we’ll be involved and we’ll pick up the cookies for you and drop them off at the time that you want.”
Volunteers with the Schumacher Lions Club will be on hand early in the days of the Holiday Smile Cookie sales to decorate the cookies. The Lions will be at the Tim Hortons on Algonquin Boulevard (next to the Bargain Shop plaza).
For families wishing to apply for food vouchers, they can contact one of the following agencies:
• CDSSAB at 705-268-7722, ext. 291;

In support of the Stan Fowler Fund, the Lions will be part of a radiothon on 93.1 Country FM on Dec. 7. Vouchers will be delivered on Dec. 16.
With the support of Tim Hortons, Lions Club members hope to help local residents smile this Christmas with the Holiday Smile Cookies.
