The BIA gets a facelift

A two-year project by downtown Timmins is coming to an end. The business improvement area unveiled their new design last night, completely re-doing the 25-year-old logo. Executive Director of the BIA Noella Rinaldo, says the logo represents a fresh start for the downtown, which has seen two years of construction. She says the street lights are coming in, and the hydro vaults are almost done.

Part of the board’s strategic plan was to be more inclusive. Rinaldo says the BIA works for their members, the business owners. But she says the public has a strong say in the downtown, and they feel it’s their own. Rinaldo says the plan also outlined an improvement in communications, new initiatives like expanding the Urban Park, and creating some winter events.
