NOSM students will be joining a hospital in Kapuskasing

Four students from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine will be working at the Sensenbrenner Hospital in Kapuskasing. Sam Merrifield, a third year in the program says they will be working in both the hospital and the clinic. He says they are working with different doctors every two months, seeing every corner of the hospital.

Student Julie Poulin is aiming for the fast-paced environment that the ER has to offer. She says there are medical emergencies you wouldn’t see that often, especially living in northern Ontario.

Meanwhile Jeremy Cole says a flight helped him pick this career. He says he was flying one day, when there was a medical emergency on board. The flight attendant came on over the speaker to ask if there was a doctor on board. Cole says seeing that helped shaped his path.

Cole will be joined by Daniel Dalcin, Julie Poulin and Sam Merrifield for the next eight months in Kapuskasing.
