City council is acting on an idea from Ward 3 Councillor Bill Gvozdanovic for tennis and pickle ball courts at Schumacher Public School.
Administration will work with the school board to come to an agreement for the facility. The councillor says the school yard is the perfect spot, and the same concept as the outdoor skating rink.
“It’s just to be able to walk there, as opposed to having them up at the ballfields – that’s a busy road,” Gvozdanovic says, “or down at the park where they used to be, and don’t want our kids crossing the four lanes of traffic.”
“This is not something that we’re going to do this year,” he adds. “But it’s in the planning stage, and hopefully we can get something done for kids and families in the Schumacher area.”
