A recent golf tournament staged by Newmont Porcupine carded $41,160 for the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.
Newmont general manager Dawid Pretorius says the tournament was at Spruce Needles.
“We opened it up to some of the other mining companies as well” he adds,”and some of our largest suppliers. So the players, they were some of the suppliers, some of the companies and ourselves.”
Pretorius says the event will now be annual, likely supporting the same cause.

“Unless we pick up something more significant in terms of need in the community, it will be for the hospital again.”
Of that amount raised, $18,000 came from Aim Recycling.
