It would be fair to say Timmins Fall Fair this past weekend had better than fair attendance..
“This is the highest attendance we’ve had since I’ve been involved for the past 25 years,” says Porcupine District Agricultural Society president Rock Whissell.”Twenty-nine hundred on Saturday, 21-hundred on Sunday.”
He credits perfect weather; the return of two attractions: the Super Dogs show and armwrestling, the latter he calls “superb”.
“They went for almost five hours of show time. It was something really that participants enjoyed and so did the crowd.”
Whissell adds that the baby show was another crowd pleaser. You can expect all those events to be back next year.
UNSUNG HEROES
The president says none of it could be done without sponsors or board members.
“We’re 20 active board members throughout the year,” he remarks. “and it shows that we’re active all the way through to get this big event together, and make it work without any hiccups.”
