Driving to Sudbury for ten-day passport service now a thing of the past

Right in time for the summer travel season, you don’t have to drive to Sudbury anymore to apply to get a passport in ten business days.

Member of Parliament Ya’ara Saks, parliamentary secretary to the social development minister, says you can now do it at Service Canada in Timmins.

“We know the demand is high, particularly now,” she remarks. We want to make sure folks have access , that we have a strong and solid business centre  that reaches them and that can service their needs over the summer and travel.”

The service is permanent, beyond the summer. It’s offered at Service Canada at the corner of Cedar St. and Second Ave.

Saks says while clearing up the passport backlog last year, the feds realized it could be easier.

“You know, ease of access is really what we strive for. We knew the demand was there and we wanted to meet it.”
