Multicultural Festival proves how cultural diversity in Timmins continues growing

Since the very beginning, Timmins has been known for its cultural diversity.

You can find out how it continues to grow, at this Sunday’s 51st annual Multicultural Festival at the Mac.

Multicultural Society president Marnie Lapierre says it will be a full afternoon of culinary offerings and global entertainment. There will be more than ever before because, says Lapierre, her organization has doubled its membership the last couple years.

“We have over 30 different nationalities represented by the Timmins Multicultural Society,” she brags. “And it is absolutely glorious. It is so beautiful and diverse.”

Lapierre says it begins at noon… with the parade of nations.

The admission fee is up to you, starting at two dollars.

“All the proceeds go towards the festival’s expenses and planning for the 52nd annual festival next year,” Lapierre points out.

There is a nominal fee to sample the food, as set by the group offering it.

You can get more details on the festival from its web platforms, and by listening to our interview with Marnie Lapierre posted below.
