U15 AAA hockey team forming in Timmins

Timmins is getting a AAA U15 hockey team.  U15 is the former Bantam age level.

The new group will be part of an association with the Timmins Majors U18 squad.

General manager Ron Holmes says that team has been affiliated with the double-A U-15 team, but the jump to AAA is huge, in terms of depth, talent and game speed.

Some of the work is already done, with the U18 team having equipment and other infrastructure in place.

The goal is to keep costs low for U15, and that’s where things will be done a little differently.

“The biggest difference, U18, we take buses and we also cover the motels for the players. Obviously, that’s an added cos, says GM Holmes.”So I don’t think we’re going to be doing that with the U15, but we’ll let the parent group decide on that to keep the cost down.”

Holmes expects the team to play a 24-game regular season against North Bay, Sudbury and Soo, starting in the fall.

Registration has begun on the Majors’ social media platforms. Players who live anywhere between  New Liskeard and Hearst are eligible.
