Lifelong painting siblings set up exhibit at Timmins Museum; opening is Saturday

Until April 23rd in the Grey Gallery at the Timmins Museum is an exhibit by three South Porcupine artists.  They’re siblings in their early 60s from a family of 12 who say they’ve always painted, and can’t help it.

Rick Klimo spoke to us as he, his brother Bill and sister Emily Keizer were installing their 85 or so paintings in the gallery.

“It’s called Past to Present: The Journey,” he says, “and the journey obviously has been working together over these decades and our travels locally.”

The exhibit is of people, places and things across Northern Ontario.

Rick says they’ve sold some of their art, but haven’t made livings from it, all holding down other jobs.

“And this might sound like I’m trying to be smart, but it isn’t about the money. Sincerely, the three of us can say clearly, we have to paint.”

The opening is Saturday at 2:00pm. All three Klimo siblings will be there.
