BIA introduces new executive director

The Downtown Timmins Business Improvement Association has a new executive director. Jessica Mayer replaces Cindy Campbell, who left early this year.

BIA chair Cory Robin says Mayer’s career has been mostly in social work, although she has management experience with a bachelor’s degree with an economic focus.

“So I think that she has the empathy and the social ability to kind of lead the downtown and help us in dealing with some of the social issues downtown,” says Robin.

He adds that Mayer’s “business head” allows her to see those issues from both sides.

“In meeting and talking with her, she’s a fantastic woman and I think that we’ll be able to have conversations with her in a meaningful way to be able to just drive this vision and make the downtown better.”

Mayer took over the position on Monday.
