Andrea Horwath is asking about hydro billing practices in Northern Ontario in today’s question period.
NDP Sam Pane says some people are getting hit hard with extreme hydro bills. For example, he says one 80-year-old woman who didn’t receive a bill for a year finally got a bill for $60 followed by a $1000 dollar bill just three days later. Both bills came out of her account leaving her no money for groceries.
He says people are being asked to pay the bill and just getting credit back instead of a rebate.
