Mayor wants more emphasis on health and wellbeing in upcoming master plan

During her first State of the City address as mayor of Timmins, Michelle Boileau urged her Chamber of Commerce audience to complete the online survey for the upcoming recreation, tourism and culture master plan.

She told the lunchtime event that she wants to move on recommendations from the public, not just her own pet projects.

She added that she wants facilities that improve residents’ health and wellbeing.

“And these include sports facilities and other kinds of recreational facilities, because we know that health and wellbeing is more than just eating right,” the mayor stated, adding that those facilities should be for exercising, socializing, and eliminating loneliness.

“Spaces where people can gather, can learn from each other, can support each other in trying to live a healthier life will be the kind of projects that I’m going to want to try to drive forward.”

Boileau is three months into her first term as mayor.  She says 2023 will be a good year of continued recovery, renewal and resilience for the city.
