It’s a long weekend coming up, with next Monday being Family Day, and the Timmins Community Park Association is turning it into Family Fun Day.
Volunteer Shannon Johnston says from 11:00am until 4:00pm at Hollinger Park, there will be hot dogs, hot chocolate, popcorn, toasting marshmallows, skating and music.
A highlight happens at 12:15: the cardboard box costume parade. Johnston says it’s for all ages, and little kids really enjoy it.
“They get cardboard boxes, they decorate them and they wear them for example as Legos, as cartoon characters…” she says, adding that last year there was a great turnout with some really creative costume ideas.
“The event is absolutely free,” Johnston notes. “You bring yourself and bring the kiddos.”
If you don’t have your own skates, there are plenty available to borrow inside the TCPA trailer. They’re also free.
