More than 500 people will spend four days in Timmins early next month, when Timmins High and Vocational School hosts the provincial senior boys basketball tournament. It’s for schools rated “A”, based on enrolment.
TH coach and event convener Peter Graham says 18 teams will play at Timmins High and Michener.
The TH Blues are in as host, and also defending champion from the last championship in 2020.
“We have one other NEOAA rep and that will be decided intwo weeks,” Graham explains. “So that could be a team from Kapuskasing, Iroquois Falls, Timmins or New Liskeard or Kirkland Lake.”
Graham’s optimistic about the TH Blues’ chances this year based on how the team stacks up against others in this region.
“We’ve been pretty competitive,” he assesses. “We haven’t played them all yet this year, but we have a tournament championship under our belt and we’ve been getting better as the season’s gone on now, which we’ve been very happy with.”
The tournament runs March 6th to 8th. Passes will be on sale in two weeks.
