News Ontario schools are in a risky position for the fall SHARE ON: Taylor Ablett, staff Wednesday, Aug. 19th, 2015 The Liberals are dragging their feet over contracts talks with teachers and support staff. That’s what Northern Ontario Tory MPP Vic Fedeli is saying. Fedeli says school boards are being forced to take preventative measures, cancelling field trips and sports events. Fedeli says teachers and staff are going to be a strike position, and the Liberals aren’t doing enough. He says the unions have been without a contract for over a year, and only two days of bargaining have been planned, from now until the beginning of the school year. He says parents are starting to get nervous, because planning for daycare for younger kids needs to start now if there is a strike in September.
