Mark your valuables to keep them safe

As summer starts to wind down, police are reminding cottagers to keep their property safe. The Temiskaming OPP says you should etch or engrave your valuables in a visible spot to stop them from being stolen. Items that are marked are damaged goods to a thief. Police say you should also copy down a list of serial numbers of your electronics in case anything is stolen.

Anything suspicious should be reported to police as soon as possible with as much information as possible. That could mean a description, a license plate, or a location.

Police also say to protect your property with proper lighting and quality locks and doors.
