Baby, it’s cold outside. City Hall declares another extreme cold weather alert

MONDAY MORNING UPDATE: The advisroy remains in effect for tonight, with the wind chill expected to hit -41.  Frostbite will occur in minutes.

With two or three more bitterly cold nights before the current deep freeze affecting Timmins breaks, City Hall has again declared an extreme cold weather alert for Sunday night.

Environment Canada says the thermometer will dip to -24C overnight.  Factor in the windchill, and at -29, there’s risk of frostbite.

Emergency shelter is available at Living Space, 316 Spruce St. S., and the 705 Risktakers RT Bus (formerly the Yo Mobile) is available as a warming station at City Hall between 9:00pm and 7:00am.
