The South Porcupine Winter Carnival is set to go February 10th to 12th.
All the traditional activities are being offered, along with some new ones. And committee member Joanne Hagger-Perritt says this year, it’s all centralized at Northern College.
“People can come there for the day, travel throughout the different activities that they’re interested in,” she points out. “We just think that this will be a safer, more family friendly way to host it.”
Among new activities are a pound class for kid, and senior students from the Northern Diamonds Academy of Dance will stage Tiktok dance for kids.
Of course, the sparkler on the cake is the fireworks display to cap off the carnival on Sunday night.
“We’re always raising money for our fireworks,” says Hagger-Perritt. “We talked about this a lot last year, the thousand-dollars-a-minute. We’re committed to having at least a ten-minute show, but the more we collect, the longer, the better the show will be.”
You can see the schedule and volunteer to help out or even run your own new activity on the South Porcupine Winter Carnival Facebook page.
