It’s full steam ahead for the two rinks at Roy Nicholson Par and the skate path at Hollinger Park to open on Friday.
The skate path is operated by the Timmins Community Park Association. President Mark Rogers says the trailer to borrow skates; change into your skate; and to warm up will be open from 5:00pm until 9:00pm Friday.
Hours for the rest of the weekend depend on the availability of volunteers.
“The normal hours for the trailer being open will be Thursday 5:00 to 9:00, Friday 5:00 to 9:00, Saturday 10:00 ‘til 9:00 and Sunday 12:00 to 6:00,” he notes. Of course, you can still skate, even when the trailer isn’t staffed.
Rogers adds that he’s recruiting more volunteers.
“Retired folks or students that need volunteer hours or what have you,” he explains. “We’re also currently looking for a few more board members. So we’re on that recruitment phase right now.”
