Council agrees to go over their 2015 travel budget

City Council has given the green light to go over their travel budget for the year. There is a $65,000 limit now, which they have almost hit. Mayor Steve Black says he brought up the issue, because there isn’t a clear policy on how travel expenses work.

Black says he wants some guidance on what to do when they go over the budget. He asked if he should continue to sign off on expense forms, or if he should stop and let council know when the budget has been hit. Council gave the go ahead to keep signing off on expenses.

The Mayor says the issue is going to come up during KPMG’s core services review. Council will wait for that before formally changing the policy.
