A slew of charges is awaiting whoever shot a moose on Musgrove Rd., south of Timmins last Thursday, December 8th..
MNRF conservation officer Jordan Morrison says first of all, moose season in that area closed November 15th.
“Also the evidence points to this moose being shot on the road, which in itself is illegal as well,” he adds. “You cannot discharge a firearm from down or across any travelled roadway because it’s a major safety issue if people are firing guns on travelled roads.”
That particular part of Musgrove Rd. is less than 1km from the well used High Falls hiking trail.
“The evidence also points to this moose being shot sometime in the night of December 8th, which as well, night hunting is illegal,” CO Morrison adds. “We’ve got a couple safety concerns and an out-of-season moose being killed.”
If you can help the investigation, you can call the MNRF tips line at 877-TIPS-MNR (847-7667) or Crime Stoppers 800-222-TIPS (8477).
