Taking electronic Christmas gifts with you on the plane? Don’t wrap them

Timmins Airport manager Dave Dayment has advice for anyone planning to fly to visit family this Christmas.

If you’re packing electronics for gifts – anything with batteries and wires – don’t wrap them

Whether in your suitcase or carry-on, security screeners will scan it.

“If it gets picked up on the X-ray, they might need to look at it,” he says, “and if you wrap your presents ahead of time, unfortunately they’re going to take that wrapping off.  Take your wrapping with you and wrap it at destination.”

Dayment says that applies to any airport that scans luggage.
