In the next couple weeks, we’ll learn what the line-up is for next summer’s Rock on the River Music Festival in Timmins.
And it will be at Hollinger Park again. Timmins Festivals and Events Committee president John Olaveson says it’s the best venue in the city right now.
He was at an event this morning, updating how his group spent a $150,000 Trillium Fund grant, and says that topic came up.
“There were some city councillors here at our event today, and the mayor was here as well and we touched on those things about the venue and what we could possibly do to make it a better space, not only for us but for other organizations as well.”
Rock on the River is on July 21st and 22nd.
Olaveson says the Trillium Fund money – from its resilient communities fund — was spent on assets for Rock on the River.
”We spent that on crowd barricades,” he says, beginning the list, “four-foot, six-foot fencing; electrical cable mats; laptop computers; and storage, a 40-foot C Can to store these assets.”
Now that TFEC owns those things, it won’t have to rent them anymore.
