This is the earliest in several years that the Porcupine Health Unit has a confirmed case of Influenza-A in Cochrane District – just one so far, but it is expected to spread.
Before you get the flu, PHU has a reminder that vaccines against it and COVID-19 can be taken together. That’s open for anyone 5 or older. Many doctors’ offices and pharmacies are already offering the service. And you can book an appointment now, for clinics offered by PHU beginning a week from this coming Monday.
The advice if you get sick is to stay home and wash your hands often, to prevent spreading the virus; get plenty of rest; and drink a lot of fluids.
Because the symptoms of flu and COVID-19 are similar, PHU recommends getting a COVID-19 test.
