Area Drug Strategy wants to hear from people living/have lived the drug experience

The Timmins and Area Drug Strategy is looking for input from people who are living or have lived the drug abuse experience.

Once a month, it holds a focus group at which those people meet with community service providers. They update them on how its workers are doing things differently. Strategy leader Christianne Blain says it’s more than that.

“And also getting some feedback from folks who use drugs or have used drugs around what they would like to see and how they would like to be provided services.”

The next focus group is tomorrow (Wed., Sept. 7) from 1:30pm to 3:00pm at the public library’s main branch.

Blain says the strategy wants to work on the longstanding, often fatal opioid issue.  That’s one more reason  it wants to hear from people who have been there or are there.

“We’re really hoping tht we get a lot of people with lived and living experience to come out and talk to us about what’s going well and what isn’t going well and how we can improve the gaps in the system.”
