Crime of the Week: Theft from vehicles

Submitted by Brenda Beaven, Coordinator, Cochrane District Crime Stoppers

The Timmins Police Service would like to make visitors to Timmins aware and seek the public’s assistance.

Over the past three weeks several vehicles in parking lots of local hotels have been broken into and many items stolen. These culprits are prying open truck cap compartments, slicing open tonneau covers and smashing windows. They are then stealing tools, work boots and other items of importance.

As visitors and citizens in Timmins and anywhere, we strongly suggest you remove any valuables from your vehicle overnight, particularly things visible through windows. Let’s take away any temptation. And if you have seen or heard anything that may give police a lead in capturing these individuals please call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477). Or use the internet at www.P3tips.com or download the P3 app.

If your information leads to an arrest you could be eligible to earn up to $2,000 in cash.  You will remain anonymous and will not have to testify in court.

See something, hear something, do something.  Call Crime Stoppers.
