Porquis Fall Fair on the way later this month

The Porquis Fall Fair is set for the last weekend of this month, and a perennial favourite feature is the inside exhibits.

Agricultural society director Betty Dupuis outlines the layout inside the agricultural hall.

“When you walk in the door, first its juniors and then it’s vegetables and then baking and bottled goods, crafts, woodworking, photography, grain and dairy products and flowers,” she recites.

That’s all judged and prizes handed out later in the fall at an awards night.

Dupuis is proud of the level of participation, compared to other fairs.

“I remember going one time to New Liskeard and they had next to nothing. We had more on our exhibit tables than what they had,” she remarks. “They always outdid us in the outside stock, but the inside stuff, well, we could hold our own, we could.”

We’ll have more on the Porquis Fall Fair in the days leading up to it. For details on entering the competitions, see the Porquis Agricultural Society website.
