Lever-Sullivan Golf Classic transitons to the stewardship of the Timmins Rock

It’s a year of transition for the Lever-Sullivan Invitational Golf Classic, this weekend at the Hollinger Golf Club.

This is the final year the Sullivan family will be involved, turning it over to the Timmins Rock.

Ted Gooch, president of the junior hockey team, says the Sullivans are moving away.

“After 31 hard working years, they’ve decided to partner with us and transition the tournament into the Timmins Rock moving forward,” he says.

“It’s kind of gone full circle for the Sullivan family, who’s been a part of this for a long time. A lot of money gone back into the community, with Sports for Kids.”

Sports for Kids will continue to benefit financially, as will the Rock.

Kenn Sullivan started the tourney as a fundraiser for the Rock’s predecessor, the Timmins Golden Bears.  Gooch says the name will remain, honouring local NHLers Steve Sullivan and Don Lever.
