Smoking, vaping being banned on both Timmins Public Library branch properties

Lighting up right outside the doors of both public libraries in Timmins is being snuffed out.

Chief executive officer Carole-Ann Demers says the board believes in a healthy environment for all.

“We’re going to give folks four weeks advance notice period so that they can get used to the idea, and so effective August 15th, there will be no smoking on library property,” Demers tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

That applies to both the main branch on Second Ave., and Charles M. Shields Library in South Porcupine.

“We see our libraries as community centres and a welcoming outdoor space will be beneficial to all patrons of the Timmins Public Library,” the CEO states.
