Strides for Change a go for Sat., June 18 supporting Timmins MADD Chapter

The nature trails at Hersey Lake are a pretty nice location for a walk-a-thon, and that’s what the Timmins Chapter of MADD – Mothers Against Drunk Driving – is planning for Saturday, June 18th.

President Amy St. Amour says there will be kids’ activities, a barbecue and, of course, the Strides for Change fundraising walk.

“We try to do 5 km,” she notes. “The walk supports chapters in communities in our efforts to educate the public about the dangers of impaired driving and to help victims in our community as well.”

The money raised stays in Timmins.

“So the campaign is just an opportunity to keep the safe and sober driving top of mind as spring and summer are on their way,” St. Amour explains, “because this is when those rates are traditionally a lot higher.”

Whether you do the walk or not, you’re welcome to drop in between 10:00am and 11:00am the day of the event to pay a pledge fee or make a donation.

You can register by emailing [email protected], go to its Facebook page, or call 705-266-5177.
