Today is a big day for our radio station. This morning at eight o’clock, we became Country 93.1 – Timmins’ Best Country. In the mind of general manager, Peter Hobbs, it’s also a big day for Timmins.
“For years, we’ve had people asking us to play some country. In fact that was our first song, ‘Play Something Country’’,” Hobbs remarks. “And the comments have been nothing but positive, full of love for the new station.”
Hobbs says he especially loves hearing people say they don’t need their satellite radios anymore, now that they can hear country music on a local station. He notes that along with live, local shows between 6:00am and 6:00pm every weekday, we have the only local broadcast newsroom in Timmins.
“Vista Radio is a small-market radio specialist. And we know that in small markets, we need people in those markets, being part of those markets, spending their paycheques in those markets. But it’s all about local.”
