Different detours in place for this year’s Algonquin Blvd. reconstruction

It’s not confirmed yet when shovels go into the ground, to start reconstruction of Algonquin Blvd. between Thériault Blvd. and Mountjoy Str.

City Hall’s project coordinator, Eryk Rice, says the contractor’s waiting for some utility locates, so it can install traffic lights along the detour.  Then digging begins.

And unlike last summer, the main detour will not be along Wilson Ave. Rice says it’s being split between two other streets.

“North detour route will follow Vimy Ave. and the south detour route will follow Commercial Ave.,” he tells My Timmins Now Dot Com.

WHAT ABOUT THE BEER STORE?

Among things like detours and extra travel time, the construction project has beer drinkers worried about being able to get to the beer store.

Fear not, says the city’s project coordinator, Eryk Rice.

“The contractor has access in place that they will provide for the beer store,” he reports.

So you can get in and out all summer.  And if you want to stay away from the construction, there is a beer store on Railway St.
