After a two-year pandemic hiatus, the multicultural festival is back in Timmins on Sunday, May 29th at the McIntyre Arena.
Timmins Multicultural Society president Marnie Lapierre says some organizations are stepping back, and their positions are being filled by new representatives from places like Mongolia, Nepal and India.
“We have some new people from Jamaica,” she adds. “We have various countries from the continent of Africa that will be joining us as well. You’ll see them in the parade.”
That parade into the arena starts off the afternoon of smells, tastes, sights and sounds of the countries that are represented.
And a festival favourite is back at a very appropriate time.
“We’ve got the wonderful Ukrainian dancers from Sudbury will be joining us again,” says Lapierre. “They have a little bit of a different show, but you know they just light up the stage so amazingly.”
Salsa dancers will also provide some Latin heat.
Complete schedule details for the afternoon event will be released soon.
